It took artist and sculptor Dean Thompson and a team of volunteers more than three years working in an aircraft hangar to complete the central feature of the 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial: a larger-than-life bronze sculpture a top Texas limestone base memorializes the incredible strength and courage of the 33 flight crew members who gave their lives on 9/11/01. The figures on the monument pay tribute to all flight crews. Statue includes a captain, copilot, first officer, flight attendants, and a young girl.
