Resident and local business owner for over 10 years in Grapevine. Proud husband and father of two boys who attend Silver Lake Elementary. Happy to have the opportunity to serve and give back to this great community that has taken such good care of us.

Roy Robertson

Grapevine Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Member – Place 1

Favorite Volunteer Opportunity: “Anything that allows me to meet people and talk about Grapevine’s Parks and Recreation Department.”

Roy has been Grapevine resident since 1985. Roy helped to design, develop and construct the off-road trail system at Horseshoe Trails in 1990. Roy would like to thank Travis Smith for the continual maintenance he provides for that trail system. Roy’s tenure on the board has allowed him the to meet so many great employees. Seeing the personal and professional growth of the employees gives special meaning to his time on the board. In Roy’s other life he supports his wife Karen’s triathlon racing. Karen has been a national champion and a silver medalist in various Xterra events. Roy and Karen have two daughters and four grandchildren.

Favorite Volunteer Opportunity: I most enjoy bringing teams together to help design and build features for many Grapevine Parks and Rec Events.

Rob has been a Grapevine resident since 1996. He is the manager and drummer for the Zack King Band and teaches private drum lessons at his studio in town. He and his wife raised their son and daughter enjoying many aspects of our Parks and Rec system including youth and adult athletics, the REC, trails, parks and countless Grapevine events, activities and volunteer opportunities.

Amond became a Grapevine resident in 2012 after completing 11 years of active duty service in the World’s Greatest U.S. Navy. He is currently working in the Information Technology sector and moonlight’s as a substitute teacher at GCISD on his days off. He enjoys being a volunteer Grapevine youth baseball coach as well as playing basketball at The REC. Amond is married to a Grapevine native and has two children, Crew and Amaya. During the week you can catch Amond working out at The REC or coaching baseball at Oak Grove Park for his son’s team.

Favorite Volunteer Opportunity: Supporting our local schools.

Matthew grew up in west Texas and earned a teaching degree from Angelo State University. He coached football in Copperas Cove for five years before attended law school at Texas Tech, where he met his wife Lauren. They moved to Grapevine in 2015 and now have three wonderful, strong-willed children. He served the Grapevine community as a GCISD campus administrator for six years and currently operates a community-based law practice in Tarrant County.

Terry is an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast that loves the small town charm with big city amenities that Grapevine offers. Terry is an owner of Mad Duck Cyclery, a small boutique bicycle shop in Grapevine. When not cycling, Terry loves spending time sailing on Grapevine Lake or just hanging out with her family (two and four legged).

Favorite Volunteer Opportunity:  “Serving  Grapevine Baseball and Softball as an assistant coach and dugout mom.”

Kelly graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management, and is excited to serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory board.  Kelly lives in Grapevine with her husband, two kids, and many pets.  She enjoys hanging out at the Grapevine parks, attending Grapevine events, and volunteering for her kids sports teams, activities and school.

Morgan Nichols

Morgan grew up in southern California and moved to Texas by way of Boston.  She has lived in Grapevine for four years and the community has become her home. She has her bachelor’s degree in International Business from Pepperdine University and Master’s in Finance from Harvard. Morgan is a financial advisor with Nichols Financial Group and has been in the financial services industry for over a decade. Morgan is also a member of the Grapevine Rotary Club and Grapevine Chamber of Commerce AMPT Young Professionals. She enjoys getting outdoors with her husband Brian and dog Bailey. Morgan cares about our citizens feeling safe and wanting to give back tot he community and actively use its programs.

Lavon has been a Grapevine Resident for 25 years and he and his family have been involved in various activities that Grapevine Parks and Recreation has offered. Lavon has remain involved in activities from coaching youth sports including baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer to volunteering for Keep Grapevine Beautiful, Grapeyard/Halloween Bash at the Boo-tanical Gardens and Mother/Son Dance. Lavon enjoys riding his mountain bike, off roading on his ATV/ UTV ‘s and recently started up playing Pickle Ball.

Kathy was elected to the GCISD board of trustees in May of 2022.  She is a lifelong resident with very deep roots going back to the 1800’s in Grapevine. Kathy and her husband Shawn are both graduates of GHS and their 2 sons are current students at Grapevine High School.
