Therapeutic Recreation Classes

Our therapeutic recreation programs bring about positive emotional, social, physical and cognitive changes in individuals with special needs through adaptability, inclusiveness and community integration.

Warrior Adaptive Training

Through the Adaptive Warrior Training Program, adults with special needs will be empowered to embrace their inner warrior and overcome challenges that will help them to become more active and physically fit. The workouts will improve their coordination, balance, endurance, strength, flexibility and also their mood. With the aim to cultivate strength, resilience, and confidence in every participant, while improving their quality of life, the IGNITE team will motivate each participant to reach their full potential.

T.H.R.I.V.E. Adaptive Program

Thriving Home Resourceful Integration and Vocational Education (T.H.R.I.V.E.) is a program designed to teach higher functioning adults with special needs the basic skills needed to be more independent in the community and those that are necessary to function successfully at home and in the workplace. Tailored to each individual’s abilities and interests, our program offers a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can thrive. The program will focus on life skills such as home and safety, money and time management, self-care, nutrition, mindfulness, and social and leisure skills. Local community outing within walking distance of The Rec of Grapevine and those that can be accessed by TEXRail will be added to the curriculum for additional learning opportunities.

Abilities on Stage

This Performance Art program aims to IGNITE creativity, build confidence, and foster a supportive and inclusive community where adults with special needs can shine brightly on stage and beyond. We invite participants to embrace their talents, celebrate their uniqueness, and discover the transformative power of the performing arts through creative exploration, skill development, collaborative projects, and inclusive performances. The curriculum will include dance and movement, script reading, singing and costume creation.
